Residents have upskilled their knowledge and gained a range of accredited qualifications thanks to training courses organised by Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Team.
A total of 59 residents have taken part in the training sessions within the last month, funded by Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Plans budget and delivered by the Jigsaw Employment Team (JET) and other partner organisations.
The various courses include Mental Health First Aid, Emergency First Aid at Work and Food Hygiene Level 2. Each took place at the Dukinfield Hub and Broadoak Community Centre in Ashton-Under-Lyne and were all well attended with great feedback given by attendees.
Mrudula Adatia, volunteer for Dipak Dristri Group, commented: “The food hygiene course was very helpful to enable our volunteers to prepare, cook and serve food safely for the older people who attend our weekly activities. John explained all the important factors about food hygiene and what to avoid doing. It was very informative and very well delivered.”
Resident Keir said: “The mental health course at the hub made me understand more about myself. I struggle with my own mental health and tend to be dismissive about other’s struggles. It has made me realise a lot of things including how to be there for others. Joanne the trainer was brilliant, helpful and informative.”
Our resident training is available in all our neighbourhood plan areas. If you are interested in our training courses or qualifications, email employmentsupport@jigsawhomes.org.uk to find out more.
