Residents Transform Community Garden for the Platinum Jubilee

Jigsaw residents in Chorley have rejuvenated an overgrown community garden to create a relaxing space that they can visit and enjoy.

Since October last year, the residents along with Friends of Coppull Library and Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement officer Tracey Townson worked to revive the Byron Crescent Orchard. They enlisted the help of gardening expert Victoria Holden from Northern Lily to teach residents simple and easy gardening methods to help maintain the communal area and use their new green-fingered skills in their own gardens.

After several weeks of hard work, the garden has now been transformed into a delightful space and renamed the Jubilee Communal Garden in time for the upcoming Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

A time capsule will be buried on-site to commemorate the event, filled with special artefacts gifted by each resident. After taking part in the project, residents will now receive an AQA unit award to highlight their progression and achievement.
