Residents across Jigsaw’s communities enjoyed an egg-cellent array of Easter activities over the school holidays, organised by the Neighbourhood Engagement Team.
At the Newton Hub in Hyde, residents got stuck into Easter arts and craft activities and children were given an Easter egg. Cooking sessions using an air fryer also took place so residents could learn how to make tasty fish and sweet potato fries.
Volunteers at the Miles Platting Community Grocer helped the Neighbourhoods team create Easter activity packs for families and also arranged a raffle.
Children also enjoyed activities at the Miles Platting Community Library thanks to the Holiday Activity Fund which gives families the opportunity to take part in different events and receive free lunch during the school holidays.
A day of spring cleaning took place at Longfield Avenue in Chorley so local children could help with litter picking and front door cleaning. Growing for Goodness also hosted a planting project to teach children about different seasonal plants, how to space pots and how to look after flowers.
At Buttermere Community Centre and Coppull Methodist Church, craft activities were hosted by Sarah’s Craft Sessions and allowed children in the community to draw, make DIY chicks and create window reflectors.
Families enjoyed an Easter Planting Day at St Georges Centre in Netherfield, Nottingham where children potted up and took home vegetable plants to grow. A total of 40 residents attended and families also sowed flower seeds in hanging baskets and weeded and planted vegetable seeds in raised beds.
In Cheetham Hill, local residents helped to clean up their local neighbourhood and all the children who helped out were given an Easter egg for their hard work.
The local community in Dukinfield came together for the Dukinfield Central Hub Easter Event and got stuck into a host of arts and craft activities including Easter Bonnet decorating, an Easter egg hunt, a raffle and tombola. The People’s Community Dukinfield helped to organise the event a lunch was provided for the 80 different adults and children who attended.
