Local school children in Tameside have found creative ways to connect with nature and boost their wellbeing with help from Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement team.
Officer Gemma Batchelor hosted a winter bulb planting workshop at Fairfield Road Primary School in Droylsden with Joanne Foulds, Eco Lead and the school’s Eco Council which is made up of children from each school year.
They planted bulbs in planters and around the school’s newly restored pond area while also educating the children on how and why it’s important to plant bulbs at this time of year.
Joanne Foulds said: “This has allowed the children to take part in environmental activities which help them to love the place they live and their school environment.
“These kinds of activities also improves the mental health and well-being of our children. We continue to be grateful for the help and support that Jigsaw and Gemma provide to our school and local community.”
