Jigsaw Support’s Bridges Team is taking on a challenge this month to help raise money for Women’s Aid and increase awareness of domestic violence as well as supporting survivors.
Eight colleagues from the domestic abuse service in Tameside are taking part in the ‘1.7 A Day, Your Way’ campaign which encourages people to walk 1.7 miles each day throughout September. This represents the estimated 1.7 million women who experience domestic abuse in England and Wales every day.
Members Rebecca Bennett, Martha McLaughlin, Chelsie Winsor, Ruth Newby-Beardshaw, Anisha Gohil, Chris Singleton, Katie Derbyshire and Shannon Roberts have joined together as part of the team ‘Chafing the Dream’ to help raise funds.
Rebecca said: “All eight of us have committed to raising £170 each as we undertake our 1.7 miles a day for Women’s Aid. This campaign will raise vital funds and awareness for survivors of domestic abuse and make a real difference by helping to provide life-saving services to help women and children find safety.”
