Cooking Up Funding in Chorley

Residents in Chorley can cook and grow healthy foods thanks to both Cook and Eat sessions and Growing for Goodness classes funded by the Jigsaw Foundation and supported by Jigsaw’s Neighbourhoods Team.

The Jigsaw Foundation provided a total of £14,068 in funding for both projects over two years, to help volunteers run the classes and teach residents how to grow their own produce and cook healthy meals on a budget.

Around seven residents have volunteered to run the popular classes and encourage others to learn new skills and grow in confidence.

Lynne Moores from Growing for Goodness said: “The changes we have seen in some of the residents from the start of the project to now has been remarkable.  Their confidence has grown to the point where they now feel able to take over and run parts of the project.”
