Thousands of Greater Manchester Residents Supported into Work

A report into the employment and skills opportunities created by social housing providers in Greater Manchester has revealed that in the last year 6,529 residents have now been supported towards work.

Alongside this, 1,560 residents were supported into existing or new employment and 2,793 residents have undertaken training. A total of 1,230 residents gained a recognised training qualification and 2,724 attended work clubs.

The annual Employment and Skills Report, produced by the 24 housing providers in the Greater Manchester Housing Providers (GMHP) partnership, highlights the significant effort and investment made by its members to create employment, training, and skills opportunities to support customers and communities across the city region.

This activity focuses on three core areas:

  • Investment in employment and skills opportunities for our customers and communities
  • Being exemplary employers, using business expertise and numbers of employees as a way to achieve the overall vision
  • Recognising, investing in, and supporting all forms of employment and business start-ups.

Donna Kelly, Group Director of Neighbourhoods and Support at Jigsaw Homes Group and the lead for GMHP’s Employment and Skills work, said:

“We are proud of the continued impact that the Greater Manchester Housing Providers partnership has on our communities and our residents, with even more people accessing crucial training, receiving qualifications and taking steps towards employment.

“We are committed to working together to enhance these opportunities for our residents and creating pathways towards impactful change, personal growth and financial security. The achievements outlined in this report emphasise how important the partnership is in making a positive difference to people’s lives across the city’s region.”
