Last week Jigsaw Homes’ Group Director of Support and Neighbourhoods, Donna Kelly helped launch a new research report about the value and impact of supported housing, at the House of Commons.
Commissioned by the National Housing Federation (NHF) it was funded by Jigsaw and 11 other housing providers.
It was backed up by a survey of over 2,000 people living in supported housing projects, as well as in-depth interviews with sector professionals.
The research shows the difference housing associations make through the provision of supported housing, in spite of funding challenges and how much more they could do with additional funds.
It also reveals that 41,000 more people would be experiencing homelessness in England if supported housing did not exist.
Donna, who is also chair of the NHF’s Housing and Health Group, was joined by Kate Henderson, chair of the NHF, at the event in Westminster, hosted by Eddie Hughes MP.
She said: “It was a real pleasure to introduce this research at the House of Commons. Through our work, we know that supported housing provides good quality homes and services for our residents. With rough sleeping figures increasing, it’s vital to be able to access funding so we can continue, through partnership working, to provide safe spaces and access to these services; giving people positive outcomes for their health and wellbeing.”
