Residents put needle to thread as they took part in a 12 week sewing project in Crumpsall, Manchester.
The project was funded by the Jigsaw Foundation and organised by Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Tanuja Patel alongside community group Rainbow Surprise.
Many women from ethnic minority backgrounds attended the sewing sessions in which they were taught to repair, sew and recycle old clothes and even had the opportunity to achieve a Level 1 AQA certificate in sewing.
The ladies involved are now planning to start their own small repair business using the new skills they have learned from the project.
