MP Officially Opens New Banking Hub in Stalybridge

The Rt Hon Jonathan Reynolds, MP for Stalybridge and Hyde, officially unveiled a new Banking Hub in Stalybridge, based in Jigsaw Homes’ Summers Quay development.

The Banking Hub is a shared banking space owned by Cash Access UK that provides a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks and building societies can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday.

It also offers a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues.

The hub, which spans two units of commercial space on the ground floor of Jigsaw’s Summers Quay residential apartments on Armentieres Square, ensures local residents can easily access face-to-face banking services in the heart of their community after many major bank branches have moved away from smaller towns.

Donna Kelly, Jigsaw’s Group Director of Support and Neighbourhoods, attended the event alongside Ivan Wright, Jigsaw’s Operations Director – Neighbourhoods, and Michael Lee, Leasehold and Service Charge Manager.

Local Councillors Eleanor Willis, Adrian Pearce, Christine Beardmore and Leanne Feely also attended alongside partners Cash Access UK and the Post Office.

Jonathan Reynolds MP for Stalybridge and Hyde said: “Thanks to everyone who was a part of this, from the whole team at the banking hub and Jigsaw for letting out this space. Local people of Tameside need this service and opening the banking hub will form part of a wider regeneration plan across the country.”

Donna Kelly, Group Director of Support and Neighbourhoods, said: “It was a pleasure to work in partnership with Cash Access UK and provide such a necessary service to the local community. This has been a fairly lengthy process as we wanted to ensure we had an appropriate tenant in place and I would like to thank Lisa Gilfedder in our leasehold and service charge team for her dedicated involvement and tenacity in bringing this project to a successful conclusion.”
