A recently launched caretaking pilot project in two of Jigsaw Midlands schemes, Moyra House and Seagrave Court in Arnold, which has received rave reviews from residents.
The pilot, which began January 2023, ensures our Scheme Caretaker, Darren Burrows, is on hand to carry out grounds maintenance, cleaning, minor repairs to communal areas and residents’ flats, as well as odd jobs around our schemes.
This project was initially prompted after a similar successful pilot in the North and across Tameside so was incorporated as an objective in our latest Corporate Plan.
Mick Archer, our Head of Operations, said: “So far, the pilot has been a great success; we undertook a satisfaction survey in July and found 97% of residents were satisfied with our grounds maintenance and cleaning services. This is an amazing result compared to the 67% who said they were satisfied before we trialled the project.”
Helen Reyes-Minana, our Scheme Coordinator, said: “Since Darren took on the role of Scheme Caretaker, he’s been doing a fantastic job and residents have been keen to leave positive feedback. Many have said they are really happy with the new service and have also commented on how clean the scheme is saying ‘he’s definitely made a huge difference to Seagrave Court’ and ‘we couldn’t do without this service now.’
Residents now describe Moyra House as ‘looking a lot cleaner everywhere’ and ‘smelling lovely’ and reported ‘Darren is doing a fantastic job with the communal garden and around the building’, ‘the main entrance looks lovely everyday’ and ‘basic repairs are completed on time as and when needed.’ Darren was also praised for his friendly manner and positive attitude.
We are currently reviewing plans to roll out this pilot caretaking project to other suitable schemes in the Midlands.
