Local Heroes Recognised at Pride of Gedling Awards

Jigsaw was at the Pride of Gedling awards last week to present the Outstanding Community Project Award, which we were proud to sponsor.

Organised by Gedling Borough Council, the awards celebrate the outstanding work of local people, businesses and communities across the borough and over 190 nominations were received.

Lisa Aston, People Development Manager, was joined by Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Martin Curtis to present the winner of the Community Project of the Year Award to Amanda Vennell.

Amanda has raised money to buy defibrillators for 20 local football clubs after a young footballer collapsed and died on the pitch. Amanda’s actions have meant that lives could be saved if this ever happens again.

The runners up in this category, The ARK, Gedling and Netherfield Forum St George’s & Loco Centre received certificates of achievement.

Lisa said: “The evening celebrated the best of this community and it was very humbling to hear some of the stories. We were delighted to present the award to Amanda, a very deserving winner.”
