Residents Come Together to Create New Community Group

Members of Central Craft Café joined forces with volunteers from Central Community Garden to create Peoples Community Dukinfield – a brand new community group aiming to improve the wellbeing of residents in the local area.

The group was set up by 10 Jigsaw residents with the help of Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Officer John McGlynn and will host a range of activities including yoga, lunch club and bingo at the Jigsaw community hub.

Employment and volunteering opportunities will also be available to offer support to the wider community throughout Dukinfield Central, Clarendon and Cavendish.

Jigsaw is working with Action Tameside to encourage people to get involved in the group and help make a positive difference in the lives of those in the area.

Lorraine Simpson, Treasurer of Peoples Community Dukinfield, said “We have come together as a group of local residents after the pandemic with the support of Jigsaw Homes to start offering new exciting opportunities for people to get involved, share ideas and make good things happen where we live”.

John McGlynn said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for our tenants to contribute to our neighbourhood plans objectives and work with them to build on our engagement work in the Neighbourhood”.
