Mayor of Longridge Launches Latest Housing Development

A new, affordable housing development helping more local people onto the property ladder has been launched in Longridge.

The Mayor of Longridge, Councillor Nick Stubbs officially launched Rowan Wood, on Whittingham Road, alongside Chief Executive of Jigsaw Homes Group, Hilary Roberts.

The £9.9 million scheme of 24 three and four-bedroom homes are being sold through shared ownership by Snugg Homes, part of  Jigsaw Homes Group.

Based on the site of a former disused field, Rowan Wood brings more much-needed affordable homes to the town; the aim of the Longridge Neighbourhood Development plan 2018-2028.

The scheme, built by contractors Tyson Construction, has already proved popular with eight homes already sold despite the scheme not due for completion until August.

Through the shared ownership model, people can own a share of their own property and pay rent on the remainder. Prices for a three-bed house with a 25% share start from £53,750 and for a four-bed detached house with a 25% share, start from £68,750.

Hilary Roberts said: “It was a pleasure to officially showcase Rowan Wood which is just one of a number of developments within the Lancashire district that we are delivering to help bring affordable housing to rural areas.

“We are pleased to have already handed over a number of the houses here already, helping to provide an affordable way for local residents to begin the journey to home ownership and we are delighted to welcome them into this lovely new development.”

More details about the development and availability can be found on the Snugg Homes website.
