Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Officers have been on hand to give residents essential energy advice over the winter months.
In Ashton, Minaz Aslam organised a winter warmer energy advice and hate crime awareness session at the Holy Trinity Church and Community centre in partnership with Holy Trinity.
It aimed to offer essential advice in face of the Cost of Living crisis as well as focusing on issues around hate crime.
Over 30 residents attended the event and they received free items including flasks, water bottles and leaflets to help them keep warm throughout winter.
Tracy Townson teamed up with SVP Chorley Buddies to deliver cooking sessions at St Joe’s Community Hall, Buttermere Community Centre and Coppull Methodist Church in Chorley.
Families learned to make a veg stir fry as part of a project to cook healthily on a family budget, alongside reducing energy costs.
At the Newton Hub in Hyde, 14 residents took part in a 12-week course on how to cook on a budget using a slow cooker, which reduces energy use, organised by Tanuja Patel.
Carolyn Alston was joined by volunteers and the Oasis Hub Community Officer as they handed out food parcels to families struggling to afford food over the school holidays in Ashton. They also organised children’s activities at Broadoak Community Centre and gave out energy tips to parents.
