Families across our communities enjoyed a wide range of exciting activities over the school half term holidays thanks to Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Officers.
At Arnold Methodist Centre in Gedling, a whopping 152 people attended an activity day organised by Martin Curtis. Children tried their hand at crafts, biscuit decorating, lego and enjoyed a buffet.
A winter warmer event also took place at St George’s Centre Netherfield and over 40 people stopped by, with children getting stuck into seed planting activities led by Crop Club.
Families in Miles Platting enjoyed a range of thrilling activities including a reptile workshop, crafts, outdoor games and pancake decorating. Gemma Bennet organised the event along with MCR Active and MCC Library staff and gave out free lunch and energy advice to families.
In North Manchester, young people got creative with photography and painting pictures of Harpurhey as part of an arts project to redecorate the surrounding neighbourhood. Arranged by Vikki Barry, the project will see a local artist paint a piece of artwork on the wall of the community building by using the children’s pictures as inspiration.
At Oldham Anchor Mill Grocer, Asmina Choudhury and Tracy Townson hosted a children’s craft session with more than 50 children and gave out energy advice to parents with the help of 15 volunteers.
Volunteers from the People’s Community Hub joined John McGlynn to host an event at the Dukinfield Central Hub. Children took part in scrumptious pancake making classes and the team handed out 25 energy advice packs and free items to adults who attended.
A host of craft activities including balloon modelling was held at the Newton Hub in Hyde, organised by Tanuja Patel and energy advice packs were also handed out.
She also arranged an arts and crafts session for children while the parents learned how to do tapestry, at the Guidance hub in Cheetham Hill, with food provided by the hub.
