Residents who are part of a menopause group in Manchester recently received training to become menopause champions and provide support to other women in need.
The training was organised by Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Julie Fraser and Leonie Painter from Winning Hearts and Minds for residents who regularly use the Moston and Harpurhey menopause support group, which was set up in September 2024.
Eleven women received the training provided by Marie Graham of The Wellness Project CIC at The Neighbourhood Project in Harpurhey. They learned how to provide a listening ear and share information or signposting for people going through the menopause.
Julie Fraser said: “The menopause group was created to promote women’s health in North Manchester and provide resources to help women enhance their mental and physical well-being. We have provided the women with training that will empower them to help other women with the challenges they encounter throughout menopause.”
Residents Lisa said: “This group has saved me in a way, and I have been able to get the help I needed. Not only has it helped me but now I will be able to support others.”
