Tenancy Sustainment and Evictions

Supporting tenants and preventing unnecessary evictions

We support tenants to sustain their tenancies and prevent unnecessary evictions through a range of policies, early interventions, and support services.

We conduct affordability assessments and secure payment commitments before sign-up, followed by six weeks of proactive early intervention. Tenants receive ongoing support from dedicated Lettings and Tenancy Officers, with multiple contact options available, including out-of-hours services.

We provide financial assistance through hardship and energy fuel funds, as well as access to money advice and employment support. Our Wellbeing and Tenancy Sustainment Service, hoarding support, and one-off garden clearances also help tenants in maintaining their homes.

We adhere to the Pre-Court Protocol and have review processes for any legal action for rent arrears.

Advice and assistance when tenancies end

If eviction becomes necessary, we refer tenants to statutory homelessness teams to maximise the support they receive.

We provide tailored support when tenants are asked to leave buildings which we lease from another landlord. If a licence is coming to an end, support will be provided by a dedicated support worker.
