You Said, We Did: Allocations and Lettings Policy Consultation

Recently, 262 Jigsaw Rewards members took part in our Allocations and Lettings Policy consultation and the results were insightful, giving a clear indication of our resident’s priorities.

When asked who should be given highest priority for rehousing, participants focused on those with the highest physical medical requirements, survivors of domestic abuse and local people experiencing homelessness.

Elsewhere, positive tenant behaviour, reducing the number of empty homes, and matching adapted homes with those who most need them were also considered almost equally high priorities.

When it came to advertising homes clarity, transparency and support for those needing it were the top issues, with comparatively little interest in further digitalisation.

In relation to the priorities for transferring tenants, our survey participants felt that those at risk of violence should be prioritised, and there was indication of some support for a right-sizing service.

The majority of Jigsaw Rewards members surveyed felt that helping solve the housing crisis remained Jigsaw’s top priority, with 85% agreeing with this statement. Similarly 86% supported the use of local lettings plans, feeling that it helped create better community cohesion and could help address anti-social behaviour.

Good neighbour events for new build properties were also popular, with 88% supporting this where developments were large enough. A total of 81% agreed that the main Jigsaw Complaints Policy was the correct way to handle lettings appeals.
