The Jigsaw Foundation has awarded £40,000 to a local youth club that ensures young people can make new friends, get involved in activities and feel inspired to be their best selves.
Jigsaw Homes initially partnered up with Inspire: Chorley Youth Zone in 2018 as founder patrons and ongoing funders, and the recent funding will continue to support the much-needed service across the next two years.
Since then, the Youth Zone has had more than 2,000 people through the doors each year, with an average of 1,000 visits each week. Of those, more than 800 are Jigsaw residents.
Samantha Hornsby, Jigsaw’s Engagement, Funding and Research Officer, was awarded a plaque by Gemma Bathurst-Whittle, Grants and Contracts Manager at Chorley Youth Zone, as they agreed new targets to help increase the number of Jigsaw residents accessing the service.
One resident said: “The Youth Zone is an amazing, fun and safe place to be who you want to be and it has helped me with my confidence.”
Any resident in Chorley and the surrounding areas can attend any of the sessions at the Youth Zone or its outreach areas. You can find out more here>>.
