Healthy Cooking on a Budget

Residents in Harpurhey and Moston cooked up their tastiest meals thanks to cook and eat sessions organised by Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement team.

The two ‘Cook and Eat’ and ‘Healthy Cooking on a Budget’ courses ran across seven weeks and taught residents how to prepare healthy, affordable meals for the family as well as learn more about nutrition and how this can improve health and wellbeing.

Julie Fraser, Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Officer, organised the sessions alongside Neighbourhood Project Harpurhey and Lily Lane Primary School in Moston.

A total of 10 residents completed the course, including parents of children at Lily Lane Primary school, to help improve the school’s engagement with parents and the community’s wellbeing.

Julie said: “Seeing everyone come together, learn about the differences in culture, and collaborate at the end of the course was such a wonderful result. We are considering the feedback received from these sessions and intend to involve the women in other projects.”
