Sycamore Close, Jigsaw’s Housing for Over 55’s scheme in Withington, Manchester, recently received energy efficient upgrades as part of Jigsaw’s low carbon approach to using more renewable technology.
The upgrades involved replacing the outdated and poorly performing gas boilers with high efficiency gas boilers, together with Air Source Heat Pump technology to help make residents’ homes more energy efficient and potentially reduce their energy bills.
Brian Moran, Jigsaw’s Chief Executive, Donna Kelly, Group Director of Support and Neighbourhoods, and Mathew George, Group Director of Asset Management, visited the new Air Source Heat Pumps alongside Usha Arya, Independent Living Manager and Kim Laidlow, Scheme Co-ordinator. They were joined by members of Jigsaw’s asset management team, Gary Heaton, Operations Director, Alex O’Brien, Head of Asset Management, and Mark Green, Project Manager (North).
This is the third Air Source Heat Pump project Jigsaw has installed so far, which also involved creating an acoustic enclosure to help soundproof the area and reduce potential background noise.
The project was completed in partnership with consultants Beech Jackson Partnership and contractors Haymans Mechanical Services.
The installation also includes data logging and equipment monitoring to allow the team to review the equipment’s performance. It is expected to reduce our carbon footprint by approximately 3,000kg of carbon.
Mark Green said: “This latest project will not only continue to help reduce our carbon footprint in line with the Group’s sustainability strategy, but will also keep our residents safe and warm. We hope to start seeing an impact in terms of energy usage and lower operational costs of the heating system once the system in cooler weather.”
